BEFORE THE EVENT

Where is Hatta?

Hatta is in Dubai, in the western UAE. Located a 90-minute drive from DXB International Airport, the road is fairly flat and straight – although it does feature the occasional bend – and boasts stunning scenic views over the Sharjah desert and Hatta’s mountains.

What are the temperatures like in Dubai?

October temperatures range between 24°C and 32°C. Hatta is unseasonably hot this October – despite its altitude, you can expect peaks of 35°C+.

I am in Dubai. How do I reach Hatta?

By public transport: RTA includes taxi and bus connections (www.rta.ae). By car: A 90-minute drive from Dubai’s DXB airport.

Where is Hatta Wadi Hub located?

Does Hatta Wadi Hub have a parking spot?

Yes. You can park your car at the entrance of Hatta Wadi Hub. The vast area is unguarded but features a VIP section.

Can I rent a MTB at Hatta Wadi Hub?

There are around 60 available MTB bikes at the bike rental in Hatta’s Mountain Bike Trail Center. Contact +971502013011 on WhatsApp to check available bikes.

When and where can I collect my race number?

From 21 to 27 October 2021: Visit the Revolution Cycles store in Dubai (Retail Plaza, Motor City, https://rcdxb.com/)
• between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday
• between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Friday to Saturday
Thursday 28 October: At Hatta Wadi Hub, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Friday, 29 October: At Hatta Wadi Hub, between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.

What do I need to collect my race number?

You will need a copy of your registration email to the HERO Dubai Hatta; a valid ID or passport; and UCI athletes will need their license. Photocopies are not accepted.

Will I receive a welcome pack with my race number?

Yes. Every participant will receive a welcome pack. It contains an Alè jersey, a cap, and a comfortable bag – all branded HERO Dubai Hatta.

What if my welcome jersey is the wrong size? Can I exchange it?

Yes – provided we still have your size. Head to Revolution Cycles Dubai or the Race Office in Hatta to exchange your jersey while stocks lasts.

What if my welcome jersey is the wrong size? Can I exchange it?

Yes. Registrations are open until 28 October 2021. The HERO Dubai Hatta KIDS will take place on 29 October 2021 at 10.30 a.m. and is meant for children between the ages of 4 and 14. • Test the two race routes (60 km and 30 km) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
• Race number collection between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

29 October 2021 @ Hatta Wadi Hub
• Collect race numbers between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.
• Race teams’ presentation between 6.30 a.m. and 7 a.m.
• Athletes of the 60-km and 1,600 hm route will kick off at 7 o’clock (see programme below)
• Athletes of the 30-km and 800 hm route will kick off at 7.30 a.m.
• Enjoy at the HERO Village and its stands, live music and entertainment between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. (in line with the current health and safety regulations).
• The first to cross the finish line of the 30-km and 800 hm route should do so between 8.30 and 9 a.m.
• The first to cross the finish line of the 60-km and 1,600 hm route should do so at 9 a.m.
• The awards ceremony (60 km) will take place at 9.30 a.m.
• The HERO Dubai Hatta Kids will take place at 10.30 a.m.
• Last Finisher celebrations will take place at 1 p.m.
• After-Race Party between 1 and 3 p.m.

How many routes are there? What are they like?

• 60 km and 1,600 hm
• 30 km and 800 hm – two 15-km circuits
Routes: gravel road with rocks and sand.

At what time does the 2021 HERO Dubai Hatta kick off?

• 7 a.m. – 60 km Licence Men
• 7.10 a.m. – 60 km Licence Women
• 7.20 a.m. – 60 km Hobby Men and Women
• 7.30 a.m. – 30 km Hobby Men and Women
Cyclists are asked to arrive for their grid 15 minutes before starting time.

By when should cyclists have completed the race?

• 60 km, by 1 p.m.
• 30 km, by 1 p.m.

Can I use an e-MTB during the 2021 HERO Dubai Hatta?

No. Only MTBs without any sort of engine are allowed at the HERO.

Where should I place my race number?

Ensure it can be seen well on the front of the handlebars.

Do I need any specific, mandatory equipment?

You must wear an MTB helmet. We recommend you also have a water bottle with you.

Will aid stations be present on the routes?

Yes. One aid station is available at the start/finish line; three are available on the 60-km route; one is available on the 30-km route during the second circuit before the finish line.

Will service and repair stations be present on the routes?

Yes. One service and repair station is available at the start/finish line; three are available on the 60-km route; one is available on the 30-km route during the second circuit before the finish line.

Will refreshment stations be present on the routes?

Yes. Three refreshment stations are available on the 60-km route; one is available on the 30-km route before the finish line. Water, sports supplements, fruit, and energy bars are available. A water point will be set up next to the PEAK PRIZE at 510 m a.s.l on the 60-km route. Still water and mineral salts are available.

Can cyclists store their bags somewhere?

No

Can the people who have accompanied me follow the race route to cheer me on during the race?

Yes. HOWEVER, they need to be careful and wear/use the right equipment. The HERO Dubai Hatta takes place in a desert – you should not underestimate its potential risks. We recommend your group follows your progress from the start/finish area or, at most, stays in the immediate surroundings (which stand out for their stunning beauty and boast incredible scenic views). The audience and non-participating cyclists are asked to maintain social distancing – minimum 1.5 metres – and avoid gathering in groups at all times.


AFTER THE EVENT

When will the award ceremony take place?

Winners will step on the podium of the 2021 HERO Dubai Hatta at around 9.30 a.m.
The Last Finisher celebration will take place around 1 p.m.

Will I receive a medal upon completing the HERO Dubai Hatta?

Yes. Every finisher will receive a medal as a memento of their participation at the 2021 HERO Dubai Hatta.

When will the rankings be published?

The official rankings will be emailed to every cyclist once the event ends. The email will also contain a link to download a certificate of participation.

Are refreshment stations available for finisher athletes?

Yes. A refreshment station is available at the finish area. Water, sports supplements, fruit, and energy bars are available.

Can cyclists take a shower?

Cyclists can use the Hatta Wadi Hub showers.

Is a bike wash service available?

Yes. You can use the Hatta Wadi Hub bike wash service.

Will the HERO Dubai Hatta have official photographers?

Yes. Sportgraf will take the event’s official pictures, and cyclists can purchase their pictures from www.sportograf.com.


COVID-19 RULES

What do I need to travel to Dubai?

Travelling to Dubai: All passengers travelling to Dubai must have a negative PCR test before departure, taken starting from 72 hours before departure.
PCR test upon arrival: Only passengers travelling from South Africa, Iran, Qatar, the Ukraine, and Uzbekistan will need to take another PCR test upon landing at Dubai’s International Airport. Travellers from Europe do not need to take a PCR test upon arrival.
Returning home: All passengers need to take a PCR test 48 hours before departure to be able to return home.
Italian participants who possess a Green Pass (the Italian Covid-19 Certificate) do not need to take a PCR test upon landing in Italy. Those who do not have a Green Pass will need to take a test at the airport (€20).

What COVID-19 rules apply to take part in the race?

The Dubai Sports Council has announced that all international participants of the 2021 HERO Dubai Hatta who travel from outside the UAE need to have a valid PCR test on the race day.

Where can I take a PCR test in Dubai?

Where can I take a PCR test in Hatta?

You can book your PCR test in Hatta at the Hatta Hospital (Tel. 800342(DHA), Tel. Outside UAE (24/7) +971-42198888)

When and how will I get my test result?

You will receive your PCR test approx. 12 hours after the test via email and/or text.

Do I need to wear a mask during the event?

Wearing a mask is compulsory during the entirety of the HERO Dubai Hatta Bike Festival in all of the events’ locations and areas. Cyclists taking part in the HERO Dubai Hatta must wear a mask while waiting in the grid. They can remove it once the race starts. Upon crossing the finish line, they will have to wear it once again.
